Maternity Dresses That Work After Pregnancy, Too

I've recently heard a secret from a friend who has five kids: The best maternity dresses are the ones that can double up as the perfect postpartum dress for nursing. I'm not a mother yet, so this tidbit blew my mind. If women are spending money on clothes they only wear during the later months in their pregnancy, then why spend more money on additional dresses for the transitional months after that little bundle of joy has arrived?

So with this revelation in mind, we've scoured the web for totally cute and trendy dresses that do double time. The best bets are a classic shirtdress with buttons down the front and brilliantly designed maternity dresses that have a "secret" removable panel for nursing.

I'm thrilled to see a plethora of pretty shirt dresses at Gap (I want to wear that chambray one myself, expecting or not!). And ASOS has darling maxi dresses with a said "secret panel" that are comfy and cool. Plus, H&M carries an awesome utility jacket for the spring months ahead that you can layer over any of these pretty frocks.

We've got our favorite options below and a couple of inspirational outfits to remind you that having a bun in the oven doesn't have to deflate your personal style. Comfort and practicality are key, but have a little fun with color and trends, too! Leopard sneakers, anyone?
