We’re stoked for this spring’s collaboration between the fashion line Della and LA-based footwear line, BC Footwear. BC Footwear has the pulse of fun, standout designs with bright colors and prints (you may recognize the name from your favorite flats at your local Urban Outfitters!). The two brands will be teaming up to release three unique styles in three different Della fabrics—with styles ranging between $45 and $70 and proceeds going to specialized programs for Della employees and seamstresses in Ghana.
Della is a socially responsible fashion line that offers an under-$50 collection of bags, iPad/MacBook cases and accessories made from authentic textiles locally sourced from the Volta region of Ghana. After a volunteer trip to the region, founder Tina Tangalakis fell in love with the culture and felt “an opportunity to use local fabrics and to hire local seamstresses—to create a business that could create beautiful products and uplift the people who made them.”
In addition to creating much-needed jobs, every sale of a Della product supports company-implemented programs, such as twice-weekly literacy classes, weekly financial management classes and afterschool programs for children. Della further empowers each employee by providing them savings accounts and offering 10 percent interest per contribution.
All this goes to show how Della’s iconic prints and BC Footwear’s contemporary silhouettes are a match made in fashion heaven, supporting a worthy cause.
