Accordion-pleated dresses and skirts are everywhere this season—we mean everywhere—and we couldn't be more ecstatic. The tightly lined pleats, usually in chiffon or polyester, give a touch of breezy feminine charm to any outfit, and even more amazing, the trend can be paired with nearly anything in your closet.

The most ubiquitous are accordion-pleated midi and tea-length skirts, which are totally versatile and appropriate for any occasion. The midi skirt falls between your knee and ankle and tends to be high-waisted. If you’re on the petite side, don’t be afraid of the length, and you can even wear flats! The midi-skirt is best worn high-waisted with a more form-fitted top tucked in. The higher the waist, the longer your torso and legs appear. And heels do tend to help elongate you; even a short, comfy wedge does the trick.

Same goes for those who are curvy—a higher-waisted, A-line silhouette really highlights your shape and falls beautifully over areas you may not want to accentuate.

The midi or maxi skirt can be paired with a range of tops, from simple T-shirts, to button-down chambray and denim tops, leather jackets, and even a crisp blazer. ASOS has the largest array of pleated midi skirts for just the right price, and Nordstrom (#1 below) has our favorite midi in creme.

With every dress and skirt less than $100, there's every reason to invest in the trend. Which piece are you itching to add to your closet?
