For Verily's Aug/Sep 2013 issue, we were inspired by the theme of finding balance in transition. In her Letter From the Editor, Verily Editor in Chief, Kara Eschbach, writes "the end of summer has always served as a checkpoint for me to pause and reflect on where I've been and where I'm going". The end of summer is a time for us to take a breath, to reflect, re-evaluate, make plans—but most importantly—to savor.

And what better way to savor a summer day than on the gently lapping shores of a lake. So, we trekked out to the west coast to beautiful Seattle to do just that!  With the help of Mike Chard (Photography), Summer Bellessa (Art Direction), Alvin Stillwell (Styling),Erin Skipley (Hair & Makeup), Tina Curl (Model), and Kyle Mcintire (Styling Assistant) —we were able to capture a single day of summer before it fades away...
